The road to hate

What happened? What mental turn off did you take? How did you manage to come to the conclusion that all people of a certain race, that all people of a certain sexual persuasion have offended you and are deserving of your complete loathing and insult at every turn?

How do you not recognise this all encompassing hate as irrational? How can you not see that it must strain your mind and divert your energies from productive endevours, ones worthy of pursute, to wasteful destructive paths. Can you not see the dim, dingy and sickly light it bathes your soul in?

If you are offended on behalf of your god, why do you worship something so full of hate and prejudice? If your god is not powerful enough to weather the flaws you percieve how all powerful can it be?

Are you further blind to the fact that any threat or slight you may have percieved, if there ever even was one that was not a trick of the mind, was perpetualted by an individual or a tiny fraction of a much larger anthropogenicly defined group. Are you familiar with the concept of a representative sample? Have you failed at the most fundamental aspect of being human? Have you failed to try and understand?

Where do you think this road will lead you? Is there a plan? Next stop happiness?

There may be reasons to hate another human being, and if there are I hope I never find them, but how long can you harbour hate and not be tainted and twisted? Hate is a temporary defense mechanism, an avoidance stratergy found in our evolution. We hated our predators and so discovered ways to overcome them and live on. It is a relic of the past. In this day and age of information where we can see the scars that hate and intollerance have left on our historic landscape, we must make a choice to move on.

Beyond gut reactions and biggotted gossip that turn into hate group. There can be no place for these energies in future societies. These things that divide us, tribes, cultures, man made borders on massive continents; these things are not real, we place them reality ourselves. We have the power to overcome them. These few artificial things, how can we allow them to dictate what we believe, or how we live our lives?

Brother and sister, let us leave this road behind, let it fester and rot and be forgotten from our minds. Let it become part of the past consigned to history books. So that when our children look back they can ask as we do now, how did they not see that it was the path to destruction? Could they have been that blind?

Have you asked yourself the hard questions, and examined your answers?
